Founded in 1995

Sims Tree Learning Center is supported by Sims Tree Health Specialists. 
Est. in 1972 Sims Tree Health Specialists diagnose, preserve, instruct,
report and perform remediation treatments for trees.

PRESERVATION

Museum

Sims TLC maintains a small collection of old time farming, gardening
  and transportation equipment and vehicles.

Wildlife

The Sims TLC is a bird sanctuary.  Bird feeders, baths, ponds and
  Blue bird houses are maintained. 
Frequently seen birds include
Mexican ground doves, Burrowing owls, Killdeer, Black towhee, Mockingbirds, and Orioles. Other reptile wildlife include snakes,
lizards, frogs, toads and tortoises.


Percherons

The Sims TLC Percheron draft horses are presented
at county fairs every year. Percheron draft horses historically used
in farming, drayage and military use.

The Gardens

Palm collection – over 100 species of palms.

Iris collection – Over 500 varieties of iris are contained in the
Doris Lutz Memorial Iris Garden.  A historical iris garden the oldest,
Swarti, from 1620.  A Dykes medal iris garden containing the best
iris chosen each year back to 1932.

Rose collection – Over 100 rose varieties.

Fruit orchards – Temperate and sub-tropical fruit trees.

Canna collection – The collection consists of over 20 varieties.

Orchid collection – A substantial collection.

Cactus & succulent collection – The Joe Casey honorary collection.

Water gardens – Over 30 varieties of plant life.

English and French Gardens – Designed by Nan Simonsen.
Plant life changes seasonally.

EDUCATION

Workshops and Tours

Sims TLC hold educational workshops and tours for Scout troops,
  Schools and Garden clubs. Professional organizations hold meetings
  and luncheons on the grounds.  The museum displays entomological,
  mycological, botanical, biological and geological displays.

RESEARCH

The Gardens

The botanic gardens make study and research easy for the staff of
  Sims Tree Health Specialists and students of horticulture.
